Restoration
The DC-4 Skymaster has been acquired by the Flying Dutchman Foundation and is currently stationed in Johannesburg, South Africa. The aircraft has been assessed to be in good condition and is able to return to the skies following a short period of restoration.
Operation
An important precondition for the Flying Dutchman Foundation is that the DC-4 Skymaster operate under an Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (AOC), the operating license for commercial passenger transport. An AOC satisfies the safety requirements of the venture beyond question. Detailed analysis indicates that it is feasible for the aircraft to operate on an AOC.
