Welcome aboard the Flying Dutchman Foundation!
Established in 2013, the Flying Dutchman Foundation is a non-profit organization that pays tribute to the pioneering Dutch spirit of the past, present and future.
The Netherlands hosts a world-class aviation industry to be proud of. No other sector that connects trade, technology, logistics or the Netherlands with the rest of the world as inextricably.
The coming years will see the Netherlands’ airport, airline and aircraft manufacturing industry all commemorate 100 years in operation. These important milestones are a time for celebration – a festival honouring pioneers, entrepreneurs and innovators.
The Flying Dutchman DC-4 Skymaster – the physical embodiment of our pioneering spirit – is the perfect complement to these celebrations. The crown of the Dutch fleet; our 21st century industry is built on the legacy of this historical aircraft. The DC-4 Skymaster is a physical link to how far we’ve come as a nation, and a symbolic representation of how far we will continue to go.
In the spirit of our great pioneers, the Flying Dutchman Foundation, along with the support of industry stakeholders and corporate collaborators, will facilitate the restoration of the DC-4 Skymaster and return her to the skies. Trade missions to historically important and forgotten destinations, and appearance at events and international air shows are envisioned as just some of the activities to be undertaken. An extensive media campaign, including efforts to secure an internationally distributed television series profiling the missions and activities of the foundation, will accompany the initiative.
The Flying Dutchman Foundation has an appealing business proposal to promote to Dutch aviation and its affiliates. Becoming a collaborator of the Flying Dutchman Foundation is making a choice to be involved in something truly unique: the protection of our rich cultural heritage and use of a highly-visible platform to build new relationships, new business and new opportunities. Opportunities once far away, but brought closer by the uniting effect of the DC-4 Skymaster.
It is a journey to take together.
